St. Catherine’s has the pleasure of working with Educational Psychologist Ruth R. Yañez, who has a Bachelor in Educational Psychology, and a Minor in Psychology. At an early point in her professional career she worked for an Orphanage in México, where she played an important role in the lives of Children whom abandoned at birth were helped by a group of Religious Sisters, Psychologist and a group of German women who acted as benefactors to all programs and needs of the Orphanage. As time went by Ruth became more and more homesick. Reason why, at a later time, Ruth returned to Houston were she began working for our Archdiocese of Galveston – Houston in 2001 as a Pastoral Assistant at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, later joined Immaculate Conception Church (Houston) as Director of Religious Education. Ruth is currently working on a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies from the University of St. Thomas.

Ruth is also a full time mother, dedicated to two beautiful daughters and faith formation needs of St. Catherine of Sienna Parish. Ruth says she is happy to be in an area so familiar, yet so changed from the time that she attended Spring Oaks Jr Hi and Memorial High School.

Ruth will be collaborating with Pastor, Fr. Michael J. Carmody, staff and all the faithful Volunteers and Parishioners, who hand by hand – heart to heart, provide adequate faith formation programs for people of all ages.
